Dear, First Lieutenant Robert L. Howard


Hi, how have you been? I hope you are okay. My name is Natalie L. Padilla. I am fifteen years old and I live in Chicago Illinois since I was born. In school I am doing good, I go to Farragut Career Academy JROTC, sophomore year. I am writing this words to let you know I care for you and that you are a great person, which everybody should be proud of. You never gave up and that is what marked many peoples' heart. Also to thank you for your bravery at your work.

With your sacrifice you helped the nation by letting them know that there are true heroes this world and that some of us can be one hero too. That it does not matter of wealth is just what you do to help your nation. you by helping that American soldier that you could not find survive you let many families be good, together close to their families . And or maybe let some families be created. Getting those soldiers safely on board gave hope to the nation by letting them and us that there is someone that wants good and wants to help the nation.

What you did also benefits me in the way of what you believe that I got to care for other people too and not just about me. That if I can save that that person for good to do it. It is not going to harm no one we are just going to help them. It is also going to guarantee my future to be someone in life important by doing something good in world and most of all the nation. If I really care about that person, I would die Just to let them survive and make someone be happy because that person is alive and I would do it with love.

As many people that have wishes I have them too. One of my wishes goes for you which are one is that I want you to get more honors so that you can feel more proud than what you might feel like. Another wish is that I want you to get more respect from people. The last thing I wish for you is the I want you to be more recognized by letting them meaning all the people know who you are, to make everybody be more proud of what you did and the most important who is a great person.

Robert L. Howard thank you for being a great person, for going to that mission to rescue a missing American soldier, then making sure that everyone who was with you were before you were save. Althought you were shooted you did not leave the bullet-swept landing zone until all were safely abord. For las time thank you and you are my hero. Hoping you write back, and hope to see you soon.

CITATION

FIRST LIEUTENANT ROBERT L. HOWARD, UNITED STATES ARMY, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), 1st Special Forces, then sergeant first class, distinguished himself on 30 December 1968, while serving as a platoon sergeant on a mission to rescue a missing American soldier in enemy-controlled territory. The platoon left its helicopter and was moving out when it was attacked by an estimated two company force. Lieutenant Howard was wounded and his weapon destroyed by a grenade explosion and his platoon leader was wounded seriously and exposed to enemy fire. Although unable to walk and weaponless, Lieutenant Howard unhesitatingly crawled through a hail of fire to retrieve his wounded leader. As he was rendering first aid, an enemy bullet struck one of the ammunition pouches on the lieutenant’s belt, detonating several magazines of ammunition. Lieutenant Howard began dragging the seriously wounded officer toward the platoon area. Through his indomitable courage and bravery, Lieutenant Howard was able to rally the platoon into an organized defense force. With complete disregard for his own safety, Lieutenant Howard crawled from position to position, directing fire on the encircling enemy. For three and one-half hours, his small force and supporting aircraft successfully repulsed enemy attacks and finally were in sufficient control to permit the landing of rescue helicopters. Lieutenant Howard did not leave the bullet-swept landing zone until all were safely aboard.

Robert L. Howard I want to thank you for what you have done which is save someones life. That is something that you, your family and many other people counting me are and should be really proud of you. You are a really brave person which many of us would like to be as. No body told you, you have to do this or that to get the Metal of Honor you just did what you really felt like doing. You went to do a mission which made you get the Metal of Honor and you were nominated three times for the Metal of Honor but then in 1917, the laws governing the award of the Medal of Honor ended all DOUBLE awards of the Medal of Honor, but you still got many awards. Now you are one of those 100 survivers of the reseptians of the Metal of Honor awards. I just have one question, do you really want to have the Metal of Honor award or would you best not prefere to have it? For last time THANK YOU again my hero!!!!!

The Accomplished Goals

The goals I acomplished this month was to learn how to write better handwritting and go to the park and run aleast two laps. It was fun when i started doing the laps my sister and me were first like racing to see who was faster but it was a tie. Then we could not breath because we were really tired but we laught alot together with some of my family that were with us.


I did alot of mistakes writing handwritting or cursive writting. i did not know how to write many letters, it was really dificult for me but like my sister knows how to write cursive I asked her to teach me how to. First, she tought me how to write the alphabet in lower case and big case letters. then she put me to write small word then big words. And now I am not that bad cursive writter. And i feel proud of my self i did it.

The Goals I have Accomplished are only two. They are do the baby shower to my mom and go eat to Portillos' Restaurant. does two days i had alot of fun. I was with all my family, we all talked, played, joked, and we had a good time.

When I went to Portillos Restaurant was the day of the baptism of a little friend. At the end of the ceremony all my family got set up to go over there. In about ten minutes we where there. I ordered a combo with fries. It was really good most of my family order that, and my little cusines ordered a hamburger with fris they are good to. but the especilty of Portillos are the combos they are really good.

The other goal I accomplished was to do the baby shower to my mother. Many friends of my mom that she had a lot of time with out seeing she saw them. We had alot of truble making it, my aunt took my mom at 5 pm to the stores the people started to arrive to my house at past five. All pleople were ancious to when was my mom going to come my mom arrived at seven some people had already left. My mom got alot of presents, and all of them were really pretty.

Something I have done that I think no one has done in my class is go to Santana of Guadalupe. It is a place of a person who died because of religion, and now he is known as the Patron of immigrants, also known as Santo Torivio Romo. Santana of Guadalupe is located in Jalisco near to San Miguel el Alto and Jalostitlan. There it is his home and parts of his body.

My name, I got it because my mom, when she was young about 14 she saw a TV show. There was a lady named Natalie and my mom like it alot. So she said if I have a girl am going to name her like that. My dad wanted me to get a nother name "Leticia" but my mom won and that is why my name is Natalie Leticia and i like it.
